Notes for Genawise Clients
using Loan Manager Standard

The settings for Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003.

Note

Genawise

If your Loan Manager database files are non- SQL then they are .TPS disk files. To ensure that they remain clear of any corruption, you should check that the Windows Settings for your PCs are set for maximum safety. The redrtest.exe program obtainable from the link below, will allow you to test and set the best hard disk settings for your PCs.

Sept 1 2005 In their default installation mode, Windows 2000, Windows 2000 Server, WindowsXP and Windows Server 2003 will set some Drive Storage options which are NOT entirely compatible with the way flat file database systems have been designed over the past 20 years!

Serving file based data from a system running the above operating systems installed using their defaults can result in corrupt data and index  files.

The settings involved are the "Opportunistic File Locks" and are stored in the Windows Registry.

To query the settings, and optionally set them to desired "Safe" mode, there is a useful program (redrtest.exe) made available by "Software Technology inc". of Nebraska.

Download the program from the link here: redrtest.exe (164K)
Run the program to query your PC/server settings, and then repeat after checking the box:
 "Change Registry settings If Necessary" .

This process should be run on all the PCs on the network that run Loan Manager.
